Re: Oil pump switch Rover V8

I mean the oil pressure warning light switch, one I had started to flicker at hot tickover, although had oil pressure on the dash gauge also I have a gauge on the oil pump and that was ok pressure, tried two second hand switches but they were also faulty, most of the ones on line seem to have a very...

Oil pump switch Rover V8

Can anyone recommend where I can get a decent oil pump switch please, the 1/2 inch UNF single spade one, purchased what I thought may be a good one only to be sent a Britpart one with half the thread of the original Rover one, even Rimmers site is confusing as to what is what.
thanks

Re: Oil pump gears modification

I forget where I got this from, I guess the idea is oil gets trapped in the countersunk bits and is more of a cushion of oil underneath the gears ?

Re: Rover V8 Ignition Upgrade

I have just swapped my old dissy unit for the later type in the lead post, put on a remote std plate low down in the engine department and bent it to be in the coolest part, I used a 12v 0.8 ohm coil, apparently the coil has to be under 1.5 ohm, I was looking to convert to the HEI GM type unit in th...

Re: LED question

I'm using LED bulbs for my warning lights - charge and low oil pressure and works fine. Also have a blue one for my main headlights - which reminds me - is too bright at night so needs a resistor to dim it a little. My low pressure is a switch - on or off so easy for an LED. I also have an analog p...

Re: LED question

Thanks for the replies, guess I am sticking with the old bulbs, as to the oil light flickering, its a rebuilt brand new top hat 4.6 with Valvoline VR1 20/50 with some Comp cams zinc additive, only done about 1000 miles, but it is my old SD1 front cover and oil pump although I went through it and see...

LED question

Is there anyway of using 12v LEDs as warning lights for the ignition and oil warning lights ? I was doing this on the RV8 and found out that you need an ordinary bulb in my system that was taken from a P6 Rover,18 ACR alternator ect, for it to work, I went ahead and put in an LED on the oil warning ...

Distributor gear end float

I am putting together a Lucas 35DLM8 with remote module to replace my old SD1 dissy, have measured the end float between the tab washer and the gear and its 25 thou, read somewhere it should be about 10 thou, measure two complete spare dissys one was 8 thou one 15 thou, so I am going to make up and ...
