Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8

Given that you presumably already have: A toothed wheel on the crank An EDIS module 2 coil packs - Mounted and correcct length leads I'd have though it would be much easier (possibly cheaper) to simply add in an ECU to control the ignition. This would be much better than a distributor system. Perso...

Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8

I think there were a couple of 3.9 timing covers. The interim cover adds the dizy drive and the crank driven oil pump.

You would need the correct sump and oil pickup to match the front cover.

Re: Rotrex supercharger on P38 engine

I'm using a centrifugal supercharger on my Rover 4.6. Using a procharger - rather than a Rotrex, just what I found for a good price at the time. I'm sure I have some posts/pictures about it if you search my name. This post has most of the history: https://forum.daxsportingclub.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.p...

Re: cooling connections for my new setup

I can't your thermostat bypass circuit?
When cold and the thermostat is closed you need a circuit to still flow coolant through the engine.

Re: multi plate clutches

Crickey - quite a journey! The remote boosters from older cars can be positioned 'relatively' anywhere - they are usually 6" or 7" diameters. Maybe could fit one under the dash? Hydraulic line from your clutch master in - then line out into your clutch slave. Would need to ensure there is enough flu...

Re: Aftermarket ecu choice

I'm using megasquirt for my supercharged 4.6 rover V8.

Quite a hands on option which you will probably need to do lots of learning/research.

As mentioned, if you're getting a tuner to tune if for you - pick an ECU which they are happy to tune.

Re: P38 Rover V8s

I hope I'm posting this in the right place..... I'm planning an engine swap and looking to decide between a THOR or a BOSCH 4.6 V8 for the project. Size (height) is my main concern but also the complexity of decoupling the ECU from the BECM; I've heard this can be a challenge. In a perfect world I'...

Re: Bellhousing for Mazda mx5 box to Rover V8

Just had a look at the RPi offering. Looks like they sell it as a conversion (at £4.6k) which seems to be specific to the MGB. May not be too bad if you have a top spec' MGB worth plenty of money but it's a fair chunk of change otherwise. From the photo's it looks like the front casing of the 'box ...

This might be interesting:

FYI: Magnecor seems to be between 7.2kohm/m and 9.8kohm/m depending on their model. They do have a set for 'classic' cars where RFI isn't a requirement.

FWIW I would stick with the UK 12k set.

Re: Fuel filter thread

I ordered a new fuel pipe for my 110 landrover, this one fits between the filter and the tee from the two fuel tanks. The filter is the small ACDelco cartridge filter but the pipe was supplied with a tube nut and insert that doesn't fit the filter. I have the olives to fit the pipe but don't have t...

Re: P38 4.6 Engine upgrade

Hello all, looking for advice on 4.6 GEMS engine upgrade options. I am in the middle of rebuilding the engine in my P38 and want to do some upgrades along the way, my main goal is to get a lot of torque out of it, high rpm performance doesn't really mattar that much. The upgrades that i will do for...
