What would be the effects of a incorrectly torqued head?
Hi guys just wondering if a head wasn't tongued evenly or correctly what would be the consequences? Would it be long term/short term/ bad running???

Shims make the valve train geometry bad and it is not all that great to start with, if you want to restrict the oil flow to the valve gear then you could fit a restriction in the drilling in the head which takes the oil from the block, you might have to remove the heads to do this! I don't know wha...

Too much oil in the rocker box would suggest incorrect bearing clearances between rockers and shafts to me. Yes when I built the engine up I used new rockers but aftermarket ones, and at the time I read up that this could lead to bad tolerances in the rockers. Also would excess oil cause any runnin...

Is this is a good idea? Adjustable pushrods and shims?
Hi guys I've been having problems with my engine since I built it and I've took it out recent to do some work on the box and thought I'd fit some adjustable pushrods as the shims were a bit all over the place, however there seems to be a large quantity of oil in the heads when it's running to the po...

Dyno prices
Hi guys looking at sending my v8 to a dyno place to see if they can diagnose the running issues it's had since I fitted it, what sort of costs are involved? And anyone recommend somewhere within reasonable distance of mancheste? Cheers mike

Well I've been today to the garage, timing was spot on with what the megatune was saying, which I thought it was but best to check. I think next were going to check the cam timing, I used real steels cloyes set, which allows 3 different positions, I'm pretty sure I got it right but best to check. Th...

Find someone competent at tuning and they should be able to tell quite easily if things are going smoothly, or if there is a suspect mechanical or other problem. But more than likely it is just tuning....and even you're admitting the tuning is all over the place. That's the issue I've had to be hon...

Its highly unlikely to be an ignition timing issue if its not under load when you have this stumble. For starters have you tuned the base fuel map using a wideband lambda and got it running nicely? Have you checked the timing using a strboe? Until the fueling is done (VE Table) you cant setup the A...

My first thought was that your fuel table is too lean just off idle. Find your idle point on the map and just above and to the right increase the fuelling by 20%in a 4x4 block and try driving the car, it'll probably be too rich then but it should answer whether being too lean is the fault. If it ma...

Well if I'm under the bonnet and a blip the throttle, say half throttle, it almost stalls its that bad, further up the rev range is fine just from idle. It also hunts at idle, I presume that its the same problem causing both issues but I'm only really bothered about the flatspot given the choice. Ai...

If you mean a flat spot from idle, more likely the acceleration enrichment needs adjusting. Are you using speed density or alpha-N? IMHO, starting out with some else's map is not the best way - as most engines fitted with MS won't be standard. So no standard map. And you won't learn the software. B...

Ignition timing on megasquirt
Hi guys wondering if anyone here can help. I'm running a 4.6 on ms, I've had a problem with it since fitting, which is a flat stop from idle. I've took it to a garage who've said they think it's a timing problem. Now the map I've been given should apparently run it pretty good. But the timing at idl...

To turn of O2 correction I believe you change the "Controller step size (%)" to 0 and that should disable it. Your pulsewidth is the time in milliseconds that the injectors are being earthed by the MS in order for them to open and inject fuel. This is a total of the injector "deadtime" and the time...
