Hopefully pick one up by the weekend. Having a look at a S13 silvia subframe along with diff, axles, hubs, brakes ne...

In process of sourcing new rockers and shafts. Have a set where the shaft looks good but there is still alot of movement between rocker and shaft. Is there a specified clearance that should be between rocker and shaft? Im guessing that the alloy rockers would give out before shafts wear much

That is the same reason i have used a w50 toyota box. They are a steel casing gearbox and can handle at least 250hp and some. The gearbox is going to get some heavy abuse and they are cheap and very accessable to replace if i need to(In NZ).

I suppose if the shafts and rockers are worn excessively this may cause "oil flooding" in the top of the heads and may force oil down valve stem seals. I guess would be a combination of worn seals and too much oil maybe...

Breathers all run into a oil catch cylinder that has a breather filter(Two rocker covers and crankcase breather). Have inspected rocker shafts and rockers and they appear to be f*&%ed. So unfortunatly they are going to be the first things that need replacing. Possibly be a struggle finding a good se...

The lifters are not paired with the cam in terms of wear. Am unaware of the condition of both of them really, in an ideal world i suppose it would be the best to replace them both however its not the cheapest so hoping to do a temporary fix i guess. Can get new lifters cheap as get cost price throug...

Thanks for the reply Chris! I purchased the bottom end as a rebuilt unit but did not include lifters so the ones i have used are from another motor i did not check the preload on them (not something i have done before). Had a good look at cam before putting motor together and couldnt see any signs o...

3.5 vs 3.9 vs 4.6 ect

Just wondering the differences in the many RV8 motors that have been produced over the years. The main reason is that im wanting to upgrade engine at some stage from 3.5l to a larger capacity. The main things i want to know are engine mounting, exhaust positioning, front engine covers being intercha...

Lifters

Got a problem with noisy lifters (I think) in my 3.5rv8. The noise is fairly non existant when cold and becomes very prominant when hot, sounds even around the rocker covers. Im guessing that the lifters are gone, i think the cam is fairly new and i have done bugger all driving on the motor. So theo...

Rover V8 to W50

Due to the lack of availability of manual bits for rover v8s in NZ i decided to run with a toyota W50 gearbox out of early RWD celica's. These are a cast iron housing box so are able to withstand a bit of grunt. I had an auto rover belhousing mated to the W50 one using a alloy plate and them being w...
