Rover V8, Wiring up to run it out of the car

I wonder if someone can help me? I am in the process of making up a test bed for my engine and want to set it up to run and use the temp guage, oil pressure and the ignition and oil lights. It will be run on twin SU's to make things simple. Is there a basic wiring diagram available to show me how to...

That sounds the sort of thing I want to make as I have the guages, rads, fans etc.

I will also be a good excuse to brush up on my mig welding skills as well.

I will be running twin SU's in the first instance so I hope the wiring will be straightforward enough for my limited skills!

Thanks for the replies chaps. I have seen a vid on You Tube where a V8 is fired up while swinging from an engine crane with a garden hose providing the cooling while the water spews out the other end onto the garage floor. I wanted to be a little more refined and as has been mentioned here, I have b...

Rover V8 Test 'Bed'

After an unexpected break in my project due to a major illness in the family I can now start to think about my car again. Does anyone have a 'test bed' for a Rover V8 that is surplus to requirements? I want to get the engine running out of the car before test fitting then giving it a nice coat of pa...

Thanks TC, that is good news. Actually, the car with a pinto engine weighs in between 750-800kg, a lot more than my old Sylva Striker that came in under 500kg so hopefully it will give it a bit more traction. I guess avoiding first gear could be a way round wheelspin until I get the ratios fine tune...

Which rear axle/diff for my 3500 V8 Kit car

Hi all, I have a Robin Hood S7 kit car, originall built using a Sierra donor vehicle. Once I have the V8 shoehorned in am I right in thinking it will destroy the old Sierra diff/axle very quickly? If so, what is a suitable replacement....one from a sportier Sierra such as a 4x4? Thanks in advance! S...

Bellhousing question...

Is the bellhousing I have with the Rangey 4WD gearbox the same as the one I would need for an LT77? Obviously it mates to the 3500 V8 Engine I have but will it fit the gearbox I need rather than the one I bought

The EFi system from the 3500 Range Rover Engine that I bought last week is going on ebay tomorrow. It will include everything from the manifold upwards plus the ECU and MAF. The idle control will need replacing as it was u/s, other than than the car ran and drove fine by just devoured by tin-worm. A...

Sorry, perhaps I wasnt clear. I have a separate flywheel that came from an SD1. Can I remove the rangey one and bolt on the SD1 flywheel then use an SD1 clutch and LT77 gearbox?

Sorry to sound so clueless

Thanks for all the tips guys! I have a manual flywheel so I can use that at least. I wont get the LT77 just yet as I havent got any room until I get rid of some of the redundant engine parts. I will contact the V8kid and see about his gearbox. Thanks for all the tips. Next question is who wants a fi...

What gearbox have I bought??

I am worried that I might have dropped a bit of a clanger.....

I bought a running 3500 V8 Range Rover engine coupled to a 5 speed manual box for my kit car (Seven Style). I am hoping I can use this for 2WD. Have I got the wrong gearbox or am I worrying needlessly?

Many Thanks

Stuart
