Re: Eddy 1404 flooding

This is what my 1404 is set up to run on my 4.6 (on dyno):
083 main primary jets
089 secondaries
6347 rods
Silver step up spring (which activates at 8 in hg of vacuum)
This is with big valve full race Buick heads, Scorcher dissy set at 10 degrees, Crane cam and Edelbrock inlet manifold.

Re: Fuel Air Mixture Wide Band System

I have an AEM wideband on my 4.6 SD1 with Edelbrock 1404. Very useful tool in getting the jetting spot on. Starts first time, good idle even with a hot cam and race heads, and goes like stink when the accelerator pump cuts in.

Re: Hotwire injection system.

Aussie spec series 1 3.9 Discos came with no cats or lambda sensors. Just adjust idle mixture value at AFM. Less to go wrong.

Re: MOST FOUL RESISTANT PLUGS

I had exactly the same problem with my 3.9 Disco. When laid up over winter starting it every few weeks for a few minutes just to let the motor run and get the oil pumping, it would sometimes foul a plug, usually noticed the next time I started it. I was using NGK BPR5ES plugs. Changed them to Iridiu...

Re: Lucas 14CUX on a 4.6 ?

Yes 14CUX will handle a 4.6 ok, they tend to run rich at low revs. Only at very top end does it struggle a bit to keep up as it runs lean at the top of rev range.

Re: Rover Vitesse and MSD

Do not use the MSD tach adaptor output to drive a Smith's tacho when installing an MSD6A, or you'll have a wildly swinging tacho needle over 3,000rpm. Pull the wire from the tach output terminal on the msd adaptor and connect it to the other 3 wires. ie msd white, dizzy wire and adaptor wire. The tach...

Re: 4.6 operating temp.

I fitted an Engine Guardian that monitors the temp of the actual engine block and you can set alarms for overheating. These are cheap, readily available on ebay and easy to fit and wire up. Replaced the mechanical fan with twin Ford V8 thermos the speed of which is ramped up and down to maintain a se...

Re: Recommend fuel pump

I looked at all the well-known American pumps Summit was offering and Facet. Most were claimed to be rather noisy and some not too reliable. So I ended up buying a Pierburg rollervane pump which is mounted inline on the crossmember outside the tank on my 4.6 with Eddy 500. Supposed to support 340hp,...

I think throttle closed needs to be 0.30v and WOT about 4.90v - 5.0v.

Re: MSD Pro-Billet advice please

On my 4.6 I had Performance Ignitions build a Scorcher (Bosch) dissy with a custom advance curve. Total mechanical advance is 30 degrees all in by 2,800rpm. Idle set at 10 degrees with vac advance disconnected. Vac advance then connects to the "always on" port (ie non timed manifold vacuum) on the E...

I have an Engine Guardian digital readout fitted to all my cars - takes its temp reading from a sensor attached to the engine block or head, not the coolant, so it measures the actual temperature of the engine http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ENGINE-GUARDIAN-V2-COOLANT-MONITORING-ALARM-WATCHDOG-2-YEARS-WA...
