Talk to Wicks&Martin. I recently had 2no special throttle cables made [MGB pedal to reverse TVR throttle lever] over a specified length giving perfect fit. W&M were superb and turn round was less than two weeks - they're also the main manufacturer for many major manufacturers and aftermarket supplie...

You need to be more specific. What car and what's the space available between engine and chassis. The BV8 block huggers are tightly ran, but remember this type of manifold is less efficient than later RV8 manifolds as the BV8's needed to run between the engine and inner chassis rails. You may like t...

Okay Gents, the news hot off the Wicks & Martin block is that the cables can be made in batches of 10off for a price of £21.95+an eye watering £12.95 delivery[!]+VAT to your door. To confirm, this accelerator cable enables a proper install for MGB's with the RV8/TVR Chimaera/Griffith throttle linkag...

If you want a throttle cable to last the other thing is to make sure that you have a throttle stop on the pedal. Set the stop up so that the carb is a nat's todger from being fully open when the pedal is hard on its stop. If you allow the carb to be the throttle stop either the carb or the cable wi...

It's pretty easy to make up your own cables - if you have the ferrules etc from old ones. A bike shop will sell you outer and inner from bulk. On my SD1, making up my own cable using bits from the old saved me about 75% over a new one from Rimmer. And likely a lot more for a 'special'. Yes, quite e...

TVR/RV8 throttle cable to MGB throttle cable

Guys, here's a slight incidental but important mod which if like me, you're as fussy as hell, and want to get right. The standard TVR Chinaera/Griffith throttle cable outer is too short to fit a standard MGB pedal side fitting, the ferrule is wrong size and does not reach the mounting point. So, to ...

Bish, the important things is you've found the culprit and can prep' for a proper engine refresh. Suggest a proper balance of all components too as #6 rod and piston may have taken a slight hammering...same with crank, you may like to get this dye crack tested to be on the safe side. Good things is ...

The MG 3.9 RV8 is 5.7 ltrs + filter. My MG V8 4.0 [3.9] Griffith takes 6.0ltrs + filter + oil cooler & lines with SD1 front cover. Both of these run standard 3.9/4.0 sumps.

Devonrod, why not fill with 6ltrs + filter capacity, let oil settle then mark off new capacity on 3.5 dipstick...

I know, I know...stop embarrassing me ;) Though may plan an upgrade with different engine once I've proven this B. Plus, keep getting urges for a BGT V8 with JE x-over intake & Jenvey throttle bodies...which I know will cost a kings ransom.

Chris, +1 for POR-15. I've built many historic cars using this over the past 15 years and all are still near perfect; it's super tough and can be painted over with a good quality chassis black. Frost supply all these [though can be a little pricey] Now, I've recently ventured away from POR-15 and us...

Speed Sensor/Transducer - manual gearbox

Guys, just finishing the MG RV8 conversion and need to install a speed sensor for manual box into 14CUX, engine's relatively standard Griffith 4.0[3.9]. Can anyone give best recommendation as to which sensor to use and ideal location? Specifically I'm needing to know how many pulses per second the 1...

Heater valve with built in by-pass :)

Guys, have been looking for a tidy 16mm valve with by-pass for some time now and have just come across this great valve from a UK Co' called T7Design in Exeter. The valve comes in both left and right handed versions and may answer many a V8 conversion woe. Talk to the very helpful, Adam on 01392.423...
