I would use a decent etch primer then something like red oxide (we get it in black too) before your top coat for a really heavy duty job. Best off ringing a paint supplier and asking them as there are a lot of new paints out that supposedly do amazing things! Not cheap but I use these guys but alway...

Hi Chris, I'd advise NOT painting over fresh galv, you want to wait until it has lost it's shine so either leave it outside for a month (!) or pressure wash it with traffic film remover or something along those lines (then key it with a mild scotch pad). Once the shine has gone paint will stick a lo...

Here it is, I want to underdrive the water pump so there will be a change of pulleys involved, may be the perfect chance to find a stretch belt and make the pulley diameters to suit. Thanks again, after a bit of research the stretch serp belt looks ideal. http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp272/top...

Hi Ian, after searching I see what you mean, I think that is how ride on mowers' variable drive speed works by combining the adjustable pulley with a centrifugal clutch which gears it up the more you rev it. Good idea but too inefficient, I think other Ian posted that V belts are getting on for 10% ...

2 Pulley Belt Setup

Hi guys, been a while, and not a V8 question (delete if you like Tony) but thought I stood a chance of some decent answers from you lot! I am working on an engine at the moment and only need to drive the water pump, and am looking for as light weight and efficient setup as possible. I'd like to use ...

I don't think of rose joints as being cheap, as cheap ones are not great, so the only ones I would buy for anything that matters would probably be £30-£50 each. With steering and suspension, I more than ever remember that you get what you pay for, and I don't want something failing on me doing 100mp...

Lol no need for a blower yet! I reckon I've got a bit of getting acquainted to do yet, is a pretty tidy example, just a few minor mods on the list but just want to enjoy it!

Still got the Nash and Mini to finish, still can't make my mind up with what to do with the Maverick!!

New Toy

Howdy, decided to buy myself a complete working car (probably not for long), so yesterday I came home in this!

Probably not the best car for winter but needs must!

Hi guys, disappointingly I think I'm going to have to let this one go, I haven't touched in for about 2 years and still have the mini and relic to finish, which isn't 5 mins! If anyone knows someone brave enough to take on the Maverick, please put them in touch, i'd love to finish it and get it on t...

Do you have an oil pressure gauge fitted or just a warning light?

I'm sure the cam nose is completely different too- the serp ones are shorter as they don't have a drive gear on the end for dissy and oil pump.

Heads, covers etc are all the same size, though if you fit an older front cover (I wouldn't) you will need an older style cam as the noses are different. A pair of SU carbs could easily be tuned to suit a 4.6, not sure about Strombergs, I think a single 2" SU carb can feed up to 200bhp and they work...
