Re: 4.0l Thor v8 oil leak
I've had this on mine once before when I actually forgot to tighten down the clamps that hold the valley gasket at each end. The manual states to finger tighten them and then torque up, I did the first but forgot the second stage. The rubber seals that go between the block and the valley gask...

Re: Edis .....or not
If you have a stepper motor ICV, it is likely a hotwire. The MS2 daughter card has a chip on it to drive that. MS1 can drive a simple on off ICV - not so sure about a PWM controlled one. (I started out with MS2, so not well up on MS1) The flapper system does have an extra cold start injector. With ...

Re: How do I stop tappet noise?
I always thought tappets and cam should be changed together, If the previous owner changed the tappets without also replacing the cam they may unfortunately have swapped one issue for another.

Re: Exhaust manifold temperatures
Could work!
Or you could touch the tip of a very long screwdriver on the injector body and listen to the handle.

Re: Exhaust manifold temperatures
Shame its #7 and therefore a bit tricky to get to easily - you can quite often feel the injectors bodies clicking as they operate if you put a finger on them with the engine running.
No clicky = no worky.

Do the tach blips and misfires occur at the same time? If so you might have some kind of loss of sync error or MS reset going on. Try running around and taking a datalog, see if you get anything. If you do have something like that then its worth checking out the field called "Lost sync reason", the ...

To answer your first question - I have a complete SD1 LT77 on the floor of my garage and have done for quite some time, it would be a shame not to use it. The LT77 in my V8 90 is lovely - although that's because I rebuilt it! :D I have never driven an R380 so can't comment on the difference though.....

Clutch covers - SD1 V8 vs. LR 4 cylinder
This might seem like a bit of an odd question but does anyone know if there are differences in the clutch covers used on 4 cylinder LR's with LT77 boxes, vs the ones fitted to SD1 v8? Reason i ask is that I am planning on converting my Rover P6 to LT77 in place of the 4 speed it currently has. A mor...
