First run up the strip!

Post by topcatcustom »

Back from North Weald, only got 2 runs up the strip as ran out of time and patience waiting for bikes!

Hit a 14.1 first run at 110mph, didn't really get any traction until 3rd and then it wasn't great, second run was slightly slower- again no traction!

The suspension is pretty stiff and low profile tyres so was skipping around on the concrete most of the way up the strip! Need to get some big squashy tyres to sort that out!

110mph with lack of grip and a 14 second pass should see you straight into low 12's on a good track Tom. With good tyres and practice I reckon you have 11 seconds lurking under the bonnet :)

Well done mate. I forgot about the Weald Today. Too busy on my own stuff for the dyno this thursday.

Cheers guys, I dont like saying stuff as it sounds like crap excuses but I thought the surface at NW is a bit poo- probably not so bad for the big yank tanks with baloon tyres but the little mx5 skips around like its walking on hot coals when there are any bumps in the road at all! Dont think there can be much more than 350kg on the rear wheels of it, of course (as mentioned) my 45 profile 215's dont help

I also need to get a roll bar fitted before I can race again! And a line lock

You jkust have to learn how to drive it now Tom :)

We've all been there. I think I'm doing a RWYB on 3rd July as my last actual test day before the Retro Show. Any of you thinking of doing this day??

Not sure Pel, tbh I dont know the score with the retro day schedule at the pod, do we all get a couple of runs through the day or what?! It's a bit of a trek for me so not sure about the rwyb, I've got 2 airfields near me which are family owned farmland so will have to get a stopwatch set up and get some practice in!

p.s. it was 112mph not 110 too :)

No schedule for the retro Tom. Just get in early as poss and park up in the club area with the lads. Its up to you if you want to sign on to have a go on the strip.
