Racing Rover P6

Post by RoverP6B »

Does anyone have any information on this car? In was around in 2008.

The engine is a 5 litre producing 485 HP. The gearbox is made by Quaife.
It is my understanding that the cylinder heads are by Oldsmobile.

It looks seriously quick, and I bet it sounds the business too.

Could not see them at work but home yes

We've got so much blocked in the office like photobucket - I was not surprised I could not see the pics

Good looking car - as you want to track it down why not try the website emblazoned on it!

I'm not that quick at fixing engines but can work the internet reasonably well!

Great site and videos.

I thought initialy that it was based on the original Traco built engines built for rover but that was 4.3 litres with 365BHP based on a 215/3.5 liter block with a Buick 300 3.4" crank

There is a link to Wildcat so I presume that a certain Mr Richardson had something to do with the engine build :)

I would guess that it may have Buick 300 heads and possibly an Olds block,

The Traco engines used a lot of Oldmobile parts but the port sizes on the standard Olds heads as cast are fairly restictive but have the advantage of the valves being closer to the centreline of the bores.

There were however some special castings of the Buick heads and possibly the Olds where they had the large port size of the Buick 300 alloy heads but the smaller combustion chamber of the 215/3.5 litre engine which I believe were done for Mickey Thompson, Dan Jones (USA) recently picked up a pair of these heads.

Love the car and would love to see it running if it's still being raced.

Kevin.
