Speedo drive gear; 1976 - 1982. Models with mechanical speedo.

3500 (20 teeth, orange) 3.08:1 axle ratio.

added a white 25 teeth drive now as on Robsport,

can any one throw any light on what axle ratios the random ones are for??

also robsport list:

TR7 PARTS (GEARBOX 5-SPEED)

Condition: New
Description: Speedo drive, 22 teeth, red
Part No: 219003
Price: £20.95

which is for a 3.09:1 ratio,
do you think this is a mechanical drive? and not electronic?

If you're handy at building electronics, Jaycar do a unit which converts the pulse count from the sensor to anything you want to drive your speedo.

Obviously, no use with mechanical types. :D

Having tried a couple of these drive pinions ...they only make 2 or 3 mph differance ....

what really makes the differance with the drive is the internal gear ..

there are 3 types as far as i can gather .

BLACK = SD1
WHITE = TR7
and a GREY one which is LDV only

..and will only fit the LDV boxers as they have a larger diameter output shaft , i beleive that the R380 also has the larger diameter shaft too ??

there are also BLACK ones with a larger diameter hole too as i have one

The black SD1 one is for a 3.45:1 axle. The more common one for a 3.08:1 is orange - all manual V8s have this ratio.

can anyone tell me the part number of the 21 tooth green drive gear please? Or even the 20 tooth orange gear? Preferably the Landrover part number. The Landrover with the LT77S gearbox still uses these same gears, even though the drive comes out of the transfer case. Is there an online website with parts diagrams/part numbers for Landrover parts?

OK. Here are three screenshots from MicroCat - the Land Rover Parts Catalogue. Apologies for their size!
Note that all are for 3.54:1 axle ratios.
Not sure if it helps!

thats interesting, I bought a green one for a Landy LT77S and it is the same shape as the one in my R5-150 box, which was essentially the last "evolution" of the LT77 2WD box.
