I've just tested my new engine and I can get better times with a lot less gas now. I've gone up to 4.6 litres and used comp gaskets with the 9.3 odd CR engine.
Ive been running 12.4's with 200 shot. But the bigger, higer CR engine now does 12.2's with a 50 shot.
I'm so looking forward to 2008 now. I can see that 11.999 pass coming soon.
And for those of you who are not members of the WON forum, if you join now and register with Trev's online shop you will get a £10 discount voucher FOC. He's a good man that Trev.
Very happy with gas mileage now.

Hi Tony
The 4.6 is a balanced cross bolted lump from V8 Devs. I fitted some old 4.6 heads which I did a slight home porting job on. Only polished them up a bit really.
Blower cam, rhoades lifters, and the Weber 500. Thats about it really.
With the liitle BFG's on the back she crosses the line at about 5700 rpm for a 12.2 pass at 111 mph. I reckon I'll only get to 120 mph before she hits 6000 rpm. I must get some bigger rear drag tyres.
I must be getting a shed load more torque low down in the rev range though, because she pulled two 1.9 60 foots and after a good burnout to get the tyres sticky she whopped out a 1.77 60 foot time on the last Sunday outing.
Not bad for an automatic !!

you using standard rods and bolts?
as i have had the chance of a couple of 4.6 engines,
but never went for them as was told they dont like being rved past 5500rpm,
but when they do they start falling apart and become problem motors.
looks like i was told wrong.

I'm using ARP head studs and moly adjustable push rods.
Or are you talking about conrods?
I was told my old 3500 would not like to be revved past 5800 rpm. But I regularly take that to over 6000 (thanks to the pump down lifters), and on the Dyno it went to 7400rpm and when the axle snapped at full throttle in 2nd gear with a 150 shot of gas on she went way over 8000 rpm before I got my foot off the pedal.
I have raced that 3500 and blown pistons 3 times this year while doing R&D and she still runs fine.
But I do think that the engine does benefit from a good balance. Which I why I wanted the 4.6 fully balanced.
If the 4.6 doesnt like going over 5500 rpm I'll soon know what happens. Well, I wont know until next year now as she is being mothballed while I start on the V8 Fiesta.
