4.6 Heads on a 3.5

Post by mickeymonk »

I'm planning on changing the heads on my 3.5 to 4.6 spec heads.

A few questions please.
Does the 3.5 rocker shaft assembly fit the 4.6 heads?

Which method of tightening should I use please?

10 bolts to 70lbft or 25Nm (18.5 lbft) then +90° and +90° again

Does the type of gasket make any difference?

Would the composite gasket affect the valve train pre-load?

Thank you
Mickey

The preload will be the same if you use unmodified 4.6 heads with a composite gasket.

4.6 type stretch bolts need the 90 degree method. Older type bolts, just torque them up.

Rockers will fit.

I would use a composite gasket with stretch bolts.
