Thanks John - another option. At first glance the issue is that the cross piece with the throttle body to the right and the outlets to the left is not tubular but is conical so the the internal diameter on the left is much less than on the right - however a big reamer should be able to take it out to the required diameter.

I hadn't even thought of what you suggest which is doable.
