2nd outing for LS Minor

Post by plastic orange »

I put in 13 runs yesterday in my Minor with a best of 12.241 @ 113.1, but all runs were in the mid to low 12's.
Here's the best run figures:

Reaction time 0.366
60 foot - 1.973
1/8th mile TV 92 mph
1/8th time 7.871
1/4 12.241
speed 113.1

Due to the way the car is built, it is difficult to left foot brake, so all times are starting from idle.
I'm sure there's more to come.

Pete

Hi
Have you considered a trans brake? probably see 0.4 of a second off your 60 foot time with one.
best regards

I'm not really going to mess too much with the current set up. It's probably geared too high for the strip anyway - 3 - 1 diff with 26 inch tyres giving 72mph @ 2k revs.
If I got into the 11's with current set up I'd be more than happy, but really I'm pretty pleased anyway as it's a general purpose car.

Cheers

Been out another couple of times with mixed results.
Got a 12.2 @116 late last year, but first outing this year netted a best of 12.49 @115. Not sure why this should be as I think car is going better than ever.
My 60 foot times are crap though as I have difficulty holding it on the brake with left foot whilst applying power (space limitations). I tried reducing tyre pressures for more grip, but no difference, so I'll just put it down to conditions at the track. Only difference to previous outing was a low fuel load (less weight over rear) and I've fitted 5 1/2 inch wide front wheels in place of the 3 1/2's.Times were pretty consistent though, but i'm hoping to get into the 11's, but not at this rate.
Times from 29th May:

Love the car, must be real fun on the road. The bigger front tyres will have a noticeable influence on times. More rotating unsprung weight and a longer rollout will affect ET's. The slight change in mph is probably accounted for by the air on the day. Even on our car the times can change 2/10ths or more depending on the weather. Keep trying and you will find the optimum set up for your car. Have you considered using a line lock on the start line?

Off to Crail tomorrow weather permitting. It should be dry, but cold. I've re fitted my skinny wheels, so I'm hoping to at least get back to 12.2's again. I've also bought a line lock, so will fit it over the winter and think about a cam and converter swap :)
