nitrous instalation

Post by Marsho »

Hi, I am thinking about fitting a nitrous setup to my rover v8 4.6 engine, what I would like to know is would it be feasable to fit the injectors in the trumpets in front of the carbs?I am running quad sidedraughts, it would make it easier on the instalation rather than stripping everything dowm and having to modify the inlet manifold what do you think? any advice is appreciated regards David.

Ideally fitting the nozzles in the manifold is better.
For best advice on your installation talk to Trever Langfield at WON and send him some pics of the carb setup and the manifolds.

Do you already have the nitrous equipment? If so, what is it?

Hi, thanks for the reply , I dont have any kit as of yet but I am toying with the idea, I understand that the manifold is the best place for the injectors but if I could do it through the ram pipes it would be so much easier, is it totaly out of the question? what do you reckon, regards David.

Its not out of the question David. But if you do decide to do it that way, I would recommend using WON crossfire nozzles instead of Nos Fogger nozzles. The crossfires give much better atomisation straight from the outlet point.

Ring the Wizards of Nos and order Trevors book mate. It will be invaluable to you in making a decision.

As for nozzle placement, I've recently spoken to Trevor about fitting he nozzles to my Rover V8 which is getting injection throttle bodies, so the setup is going to be simlar to a rack of downdraft Webers - Trev said it would work best if they were fitted into the trumpets.

That said, the intakes are much shorter woth downdraft than sidedraft so you may still be better fitted to your manifolds - but mount them close to the carbs to leave a bit more distance/time for the nitrous to do its job of mixing in and cooling the inlet charge - and mount them pointing at about a 15/20 degree angle from the inlet flow too, not straight in line with the flow of the inlet charge.
No substitute for cubic inches
