Cheers for the advice will have a look but not seen a breather pipe unless its the small black stubby bit with a cap on it? On the right hand side towards the front of the box?

That sounds like it, and it should have a plastic hose on it, not a cap. If it's capped and sealed it won't be able to breathe and that could well cause the problem. The hose needs to run up to about the height of the top of the dipstick tube and then back down again, ending somewhere around the rear of the box. It certainly needs sorting properly to eliminate it as the cause before moving on to anything more complicated and expensive.

I blew down the filler tube and it pressurized the box then I removed the cap and and tried again, the box can now breathe. Will fit a length of hose as you suggest and try again. Fingers crossed that has sorted the problem. Thanks again for the reply
