It says spec for Ford Racing R+P is 8-12 thou.

Dont get carried away making it too tight.

It should be easy enough to swap the shims though even with the axle in the car.

Just pull the back cover and pull the two shafts out of the axle a bit.

If moving some shims side-side doesnt get you what you need I have shims here

But swapping existing shims is easiest.

what a stressful couple of months its been,
engine was sent away and sat there while we were waiting on some measurements we never got,
also had other issues etc,

Block is now at Chessmans and being worked on right away, its being skimmed/decked as the liners are ok, also having a rebore for the new pistons,
crank is waiting to be offset ground,
new forged pistons have arrived from the USA along with a new set of forged H bean Manley conrods, static CR is 9.4:1.
new cylinder heads are also here,
will update the spec once we have built it and have her on the dyno,

Are also looking at changing the supercharger to a vortech unit as the rotrex is nearly at max revs on the engines red line, so we may not be able to get anymore boost from it in its current set up.

This was an interesting and quite surprising article.

http://www.powerperformancenews.com/tec ... -vs-boost/

I'd have thought that as blower was spinning the same n both engines, power wouldnt have changed much, seems not the case !

Unless the blower swap isnt costing too much, I'd definitely hold back and see how it all performs with the new engine

Especially if all brackets/belt drive setup are working good.

Does anyone make a kit/brackets for a Vortech on a Rover engine ? Or a Procharger ?

I'd save it as a last resort, as that's getting into a lot of time/money for a swap

And pretty sure the Rotrex units are very very compact compared to the other brands ? It could turn into a lot of work, for not so much gains.

If you're getting a bigger engine, better heads ? slightly different cam ? etc

all of those things should see gains everywhere anyway. Maybe methanol injection, or simply add some methanol to the fuel, usually a 20% mix can see decent gains for very little cost and effort.

Like me...we need to grasp the concept of drive the f***** thing and stop modifying it ! LOL

Interresting article..
boost is more accurately an indication of back pressure in the intake track. Yes folks, that wonderful boost gauge is actually reading how much restriction your engine represents to the airflow provided by the supercharger.
Knew that for years.
When I swapped the stock SD1 heads for the Merlins boost dropped 5psi ( from 10psi to 5psi) but got 50bhp more on the dyno.
Have to say, Charles at Real Steel told me this should happen....

Did gear up the blower for a few years but ended up gearing it back to 5psi so its more streetable ( less aggressive ).

Id also say, leave blower as is. See what it makes on the dyno and decide then to swap or not. Then you've a equation.

yeah we are leaving as is for now as we know what the car made on the dyno with this charger with the old set up,

be interesting to see how it goes with the new heads and cam etc
The vortech is an option I have been offered.
