bolt size please!

Post by lansalot »

Hi all

Can anyone advise what type the 4 bolts that hold the injector rail to the injection manifold on a Range Rover '91 Hotwire EFI Vogue are please?

That's FN106047L (part #2) in the diagram here http://www.landroverworkshop.com/diagra ... ipes_53401

Got some M6 bolts.. no joy. Was then told they were 1/4 UNF x 1/2 inch, so got some of them but nope. So then found that above diagram which says part number 2 is an M6 nut flange. I don't remember them being flanges tho...

And this pic would suggest same: http://www.britishv8.org/articles/Image ... -EFI-3.jpg

Mine got lost during the strip down. Little help?
Cheers

I would guess 1/4 UNC as the engine is mostly UNC.

Thanks Tom, those are shown as M6x22 but the M6s I have don't appear to go in. Hmmmm... Neither did the UNC I had before. Maybe they're just furred up, I'll take another look..

Haven't been able to check my car as it's not at my house yet.

What thread pitch does the M6 bolt have you tried have?
1 or 0.75?

I've got a fairly late Hotwire manifold here - the one where the thermostat isn't in the old housing.

The fuel rail fixing is studs and nuts - rather than bolts. The other two fixings per side - originally for the older style injector carriers - are used for wiring loom fixings. Those are set screws (with odd shaped heads) - and are M6x 1.0 as are the nuts which fit the studs. So I'm assuming the stud thread to manifold is the same.

The older engines deffo had 1/4" UNC here. I think. :D

The threads are all M6, the depth of the threaded holes is 16 mm or 5/8" if you prefer imperial units. The pitch is 1 mm as already mentioned.
