Hi just a quick question...has anyone used the blower/turbo camshaft from real steel?

Yeah wanting to put it with a twin turbo 4.6 build...using 3.9 efi front cover,inlet and heads

I've used this cam with the 4.6 and the 4.9 Rover V8 and found it to be pretty good for my needs. Please note that they recommend the valve spring kit and having the spring pans on the heads lowered so you can set the fitted height of the springs with shims. I subsequently fitted a crower mech cam and solid lifters to the 4.9 when I started adding nitrous back in.

I use the Real Steel blower/turbo cam in my 5.0 twin turbo Rv8 and it gives good results. All hell breaks loose when the turbos kick in. However, I'm not convinced that it doesn't causes some contamination of the inlet charge due to turbine back pressure. It may be better suited to a blower set up.
In comparison to a standard 3.9 cam it lost some low down grunt as expected but pushes better between 4000-5000 rpm. A rolling Road is really the only way to compare but I've not got round to that yet.
It also lost 3-4 MPG compared to a 3.9 cam but I don't care about that.

No real solid specs on that cam to get any real detail.

But it looks quite mild and I'd doubt there is any overlap at all.

I wouldnt have any concerns about running it at all.

I think the Kent cam they did for me years ago had more duration than that one.

I've used this cam and it worked well for me! Just had it on the Dyno and got 440 hp/ 430 torque at the flywheel but more importantly it pulls really well from tickover, no shunting & endless torque so definitely recommended.

Could have made 490 + hp but we pulled the tune in a little due to having standard pistons...

A turbo will amplify the cams characteristics imo. So, a fast road cam will perform like the clappers whereas a mild cam will pull like a train. All assuming the turbo's are correct for the application :-)

It should work ok, but I'd maybe have some concerns about MOT emissions.

It will be tight

how was your previous cam in that respect ?

Yeah was OK mate regarding the emissions flew through.

Thats something you will never need to worry about on that era of car IMO the limits are huge in gas terms 8-)

They are huge, but at 3.5% and 1200ppm, it doesnt take a huge amount of overlap for the hydrocarbons to start rising.

CO shouldnt be a problem though
