Hi all,

Ive been having some issues with my TA heads!.
Have had another engine refresh ( well rebuild actually new pistons, rings and rebore) another new M248 cam.

The car drives fine on the road but when I hit the track this happens:-


It is exactly the same problem that I had before and never found because of other issues (long story).

It seems to be No 5 cylinder. Have had stem seals done twice so don't think it is that. visual inspection shows nothing.
Fine on startup with no sign of smoke.

Ideas anyone?

I have just spotted that the oil return holes from the head are half blocked by the head gasket. The TA head must have the drain back in a slightly different place. (heads still fitted)
Its not going to cause the problem but must cause oil to pool in the head.

how do you know its no5? the plug oiling up???

Yes no 5 plug oily as hell.
Have you the same issue with head gasket blocking oilways.
look down the hole with covers off.

I will take heads off at weekend to investigate.

Yeah mine blocks the oil flow back holes but only by a little 3/4 hole clear.
I run the TA roller rockers and pushrods on mine too (doubt makes any difference regarding your problem)
Mines running real sweet to be honest.

Have you a cracked head at all??

And here's the answer..

Yes, the problem has been identified.
No5 inlet pushrod hole is slightly offset and when I cleaned the casting flash up I accidentally left the wall wafer thin resulting in a hole.
hopefully it is repairable with some ally welding.

If cleaned up, even a good epoxy might be an option ?

Sleeve the PR hole ?

or as you say a little welding, or some of that cold welding type stuff.

Always some sort of solution.

thin sleeve in the pushrod hole?

Local engineering shop are fitting a sleeve to the pushrod hole.
