hello all,

So my westfield is now 20 years old...yep...and the forth engine is about to go in.

Been thinking that the all the fuel hose could probably do with replacing too.

Not sure if the stuff I brought 20 years ago is suitable for newer petrol fuels.

there not a great amount, probably less than a 1.5 meters in total.

But with so many different types about, which one do I need for modern petrol fuels.

Hi Scott, Petrol now contains some Ethanol, I think the percentage is a matter of brand, however it is not a good idea to use standard fuel hose. You require the Ethanol Ok type.
The standard fuel hose slowly gets eaten resulting in the odd leak.
Car Builder Solutions can supply at £10 / metre of 8mm ID. Also 6 & 10 ID.

Id try and avoid ebay and buy from a reputable seller as above.

An SD1 club member has just reported problems with cracking on EFI hose bought from Ebay. However, the Ebay seller is a well established UK company specialising in hoses of all types.
Doubt cracking on the outside is caused by ethanol.

A hose that is cracking on the outside is probably an old stock or rubbish.
If all the other hoses are still fine then it can`t be anything in the engine bay that`s causing the problem ......... well that is what I would have thought though I have been wrong before.
I use an electric fuel pump, the last thing I want is a fire in the engine bay caused by a p*** poor fuel hose.
If £10 per metre is expensive ........ what price your engine bay?

Yes I tied to stay away from eaby, after googling....it was the best too.

I sourced some branded goodyear R9 fuel hose from a reputable firm.

Cant say it was cheap at £77 for 4 meters of hose, but hopefully gives me some piece of mind.

I removed the pre fuel filter and my fuel tank, both had small rubber particles in them, and old hose was marked as R6, but I'm not totally sure how old that hose was.

So looks like I caught something in time.

I think you will find the 8mm is the right size, the last stuff I bought was marked up at 7.6mm ID.
